 3. What cookies and web technologies do we use?

In general, we use cookies from the following categories:

Table

Category

Description

Technically required

These cookies are necessary for the website to function.

Analytics and statistics

These web technologies (including cookies) allow a website to store previously entered information (such as usernames, settings, language preferences) and offer users improved, more personalized features. To further analyze the behavior of our website visitors, cookies collect information such as the number of visits, the average time spent on the website, or pages viewed. This helps us identify which elements of our online offering are most frequently used, allowing us to further develop the website based on your needs. We also use these cookies and other web technologies in connection with user tracking (see section 4 for more details).

1. Cookies may be stored on your device either temporarily or for a longer period.

So-called persistent cookies are stored on your device for a specific period until a defined expiration date (or until you delete them earlier). For example, language settings are saved so you don’t have to set them again when visiting our website.
A session cookie temporarily stores a session ID while you are actively using our website. This prevents you from having to log in again when switching pages. Session cookies are deleted upon logout or expire once your session ends.

2. (1) First-Party Cookies
A First-Party Cookie is one that is set by us as the controller (equivalent to a responsible party in other jurisdictions) or by our processors (equivalent to operators in other jurisdictions). The AUDI entity operating the website (see legal notice) is responsible for the data processing. This AUDI entity processes the data collected by First-Party Cookies for its own purposes, regardless of whether it programmed the cookie itself or uses a cookie from another legal entity.

(2) Third-Party Cookies
A Third-Party Cookie is one that is set by a third party not identical to the AUDI entity operating the website you are visiting, such as our service providers. Third-Party Cookies originate from various third-party domains and may be used flexibly to track user behavior on our website and on third-party websites outside the third party’s offering (especially for personalized advertising).
When you visit a website where an advertising network displays ads, a Third-Party Cookie may be placed on your device via the ad. This cookie typically stores the number of page visits and the duration of your visit. When you revisit a site with ads from the same advertiser, they may recognize you via the cookie and offer personalized ads based on the collected information.
Although we allow third parties to access the website to install these cookies on users’ devices, we have no control over how long these Third-Party Cookies are stored. The data collected via the cookie is processed by the third party for its own purposes under its own responsibility according to its privacy and cookie policies, or jointly with us. This also includes Third-Party Cookies from social networks that allow information to be shared with the respective platforms.
